Yoga for Thyroid Problems
Normal functioning of a thyroid gland is essential to cut down the need for thyroid medication. Setubandhasana, bridge pose, not only alerts your body and mind but also stretches your neck and stimulates the thyroid. This pose strengthens the thyroid gland to function properly.
Plough Pose - Halasana
Peculiar plough pose of halasana focuses on the neck region and thyroid gland. This activates and improves the functioning of thyroid and stimulates the metabolic process.
Fish Pose - Matsyasana
Matsyasana, a fish in water like posture of the body stretches the throat and subsequently thyroid gland. Stretching effect improves blood circulation to the gland, which results in healthy functioning of gland and body system as well.
Cobra Pose - Bhujangasana
Cobra pose with appearance like a hooded snake bend the neck backwards and exert pressure on the thyroid. Bhujangasana has the positive impact on thyroid as well as improving your mood.
Corpse Pose - Savasana
Regular practice of corpse pose facilitates breathing and deals with numerous physiological effects, which otherwise exhibited as symptoms of thyroid diseases. Savasana decreases heart rate, blood pressure level and metabolic rate. It calms down your mind and reduces anxiety and fatigue. It also improves concentration and attention.
Practice of slow inhalation and forceful exhalation purify the respiratory tract and boost the supply of oxygen enrich blood to the body. This stabilizes and strengthens the thyroid gland and regulates hormones.
Alternate Nostril Breathing - Anuloma Viloma
Anuloma viloma, also known as nadi shodhana or alternate nostril breathing purify the nostrils and balance physical and mental energy of the body. Breathing purification detoxifies the blood as well and hence useful for almost all types of health issues, including thyroid.
