Natural Ways to Prevent Wrinkles

Written by Margaret Mackintosh at Beaulance Natural Skin Care.

There are many ways to prevent wrinkles. Let's focus on a few simple and, of course, all natural and healthy ways!

beautiful skin

First, it is wise to avoid synthetics, such as fragrances. These are man-made and are often seen on labels of natural skin care products. By virtue of being man-made, they are not as well received or recognized by our cells.

Why not choose products that use only pure essential oils, preferably wild crafted and organic? Unless you are allergic to a specific one, you are far better off using natural oils, which our cells recognize and to which they respond positively. Then, your body won't express itself with symptoms, such as redness, dryness, inflammation, irritation, wrinkling, soreness, etc.

Another ingredient to avoid is alcohol. A lot of natural skin care products include it in their formulations. This can also cause or contribute to dryness and other forms of irritation. Neither of these ingredients is necessary in a natural skin care product.

And, as you may well know by now, the petro-chemicals and parabens used to preserve most products on the market are harsh and pro-aging, not anti-aging as the marketing would have you believe. They can actually break down the acid mantle/ph factor of your skin and destroy its natural moisturizing factor, thereby leading to thinning and aging of your skin. They aggravate allergies and create skin irritation. Further, they are known to negate, to some extent, the truly good and natural ingredients with which they are combined.

Skin absorbs chemical substances and potentially carcinogenic ingredients as surely as it does natural, healthy ones, and these are distributed throughout our bodies. We then increase the aging of our skin as well as the possibility of developing dis-eases of other kinds, such as cancer. So, let's consider some natural and very simple ways to care for our precious skin!

I was recently reminded of a wonderful ingredient that is central to Asian diets, especially the Japanese, and is considered a main reason for their relatively youthful skin and better health overall. It is Phytessence Wakame. Yes, humble seaweed, derived from kelp! It grows naturally around the seas of Japan and is eaten daily as part of their diet, offering many benefits to overall health, including youthful skin.

It actually stops the process of hyaduronidase, an enzyme which breaks down the hyaluronic acid in our skin and leads to aging of our skin through loss of elastin and collagen fibers. The skin loses elasticity, resulting in bags, wrinkles and tired looking skin.

P. Wakame is also a potent antioxidant; it helps protect our skin from UV damage from sun and environmental pollution. It contains 15 times more calcium than milk and is rich in minerals and vitamins, especially the B group. It is also high in iron and potassium. These all help maintain the skin's moisture balance. So, how about making friends with wakame seaweed and enjoy a daily bowl of Miso soup. Your body will thank you for it!

As we age, our skin needs more oil, and I don't mean heavy, greasy or man-made oils like mineral oil, such as found and featured in commercial products. I mean nourishing oils that are rich in essential fatty acids and anti-oxidants.

Beaulance Natural Skin Care uses Rose Hip Seed oil, Sea Buckthorn and Tamanu oils amongst many others. These are the powerful and truly anti-aging, anti-wrinkle oils that actually reverse skin damage and, with continued use, will smooth out wrinkles and rejuvenate your skin.

Please also remember good old fashioned H2O. Water, when in its pure state, minus the chlorine, fluoride and other potential toxins, is a dear friend to our body and our skin! It greatly assists every cell in performing its myriad functions.

Although it may not provide the same enjoyment as coffee or tea, it provides far more benefits. As well, when we choose more water over caffeinated or sugary beverages, we tip the scales in favor of greater health and more youthful skin!
