GladRags Menstrual Cup

For the past few years I've been wanting to try out the period cup. For those wondering about it, I would like to share my experience using it. Firstly, I'd like to thank GladRags for sending me a lovely package of cloth pads and an XO Flow menstrual cup. I'm actually excited to get me period, so that I can try out these alternative products.

GladRags Menstrual Cup

The XO Flow menstrual cup really caught my attention, as it's a great way to save money every month, as tampons are expensive. Switching to cloth pads is also a savings and is good for the environment. With pads, you need pantyliners, day pads and night pads, which all add up. If you think about it, switching to reusable menstrual products just makes sense. It is an initial investment, but then you don't have to spend money again for many years to come.

Reusable products are also good for the environment and...

Good for your body (and soul)

Conventional disposable products can contain plastics, artificial fragrances, adhesives, and chemical gels--things you don't want next to one of the most sensitive parts of your body! Choosing GladRags all-cotton pads means comfortable periods free from irritating materials and avoiding unnecessary exposure to the synthetic ingredients in disposable pads and tampons.

One of the lesser-known benefits of switching to reusable menstrual products is the period positivity that comes along with it. The menstrual cycle is a healthy and natural process. Many of us grow up believing that it's a messy inconvenience or, worse, a disgusting disease-like condition. The embarrassment or shame we feel about our periods is often a result of negative cultural conditioning. Fortunately, many of us have experienced profound positive transformations in our feelings toward our menstrual cycles after switching to GladRags!

So lets get to my experience with the menstrual cup. My initial reaction was, is this going to feel comfortable inside me, as it's much wider then a regular tampon. Although I liked the fact that it collects your flow instead of absorbing it, and you can wear it for up to 12 hours at a time.

I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to use the cup, and I loved it. I wish I had used it sooner. It is so comfortable as you don't even feel it inside you. Every few hours I just emptied it out and washed it with soap and put it back in. So much better than tampons, as it has a more natural feel to it. I will definitely be using it every month from now on, and recommend it to every woman I know. I love the savings and the no waste factor. No more messy, bloody pads to throw out. It makes my period feel so clean, simple and easy.

The GladRags pads which I tried as well felt amazing. You don't even feel like you're wearing a pad at all. It feels like it's part of your underwear, as they are made of cotton. I just washed them with soap and water and you're good to go. Once you try natural reusable products for your period, there's no going back.
