Allergic to Life or Food?

Written by Viki Ackland.

I find in life a great many people just accept what is given to them in the form of food, health and spiritual happiness. I suppose in life it is much easier to let others decide for you, and to hold them in higher regard of knowledge and advice based on ones education and status in life.

We go through life eating things that attack our bodies, not researching the vast array of genetically modified foods, and not questioning what is really good for us, and our families. Even organic foods are mislabelled and we are misinformed on many levels, mainly due to the complacency we see around us.

People who know everything are not only boring, they are often wrong. People who are in touch with their bodies, through yoga, vegetarianism, raw, and organic, realize there is much we just do not need and should not do, in regard to our eating habits and our overall health. When did we become a race of followers?

Being healthy of course has a lot to do with choices, relationship or otherwise. Do we stay with someone who nitpicks and criticizes us all the time? Of course not, no self respecting person would. There is nothing constructive about that brand of giving, matter of fact it is destructive, but life again is all about choice. The same way we choose to eat pesticide laden foods, drink milk from a cow, and eat meat that is laced with chemicals to keep it from rotting.

As we ignore our hearts when they are being abused, the same goes for our bodies. I think the time has come to embrace the natural way we look at foods. A healthy body leads to a healthy mind. Let go of things you were taught and realize the road to learning something new is laid out in front of you.

Some of the common allergies include Gluten intolerance, Dairy sensitivity, Fructose sensitivity and yeast sensitivity. When you have a food allergy, your immune system mistakenly identifies a specific food or a substance in food as something harmful. Your immune system triggers cells to release antibodies known as immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies to neutralize the culprit food or food substance (the allergen). The next time you eat even the smallest amount of that food, the IgE antibodies sense it and signal your immune system to release chemical called histamine, as well as other chemicals, into your bloodstream.

Since so many foods are laden with so many chemicals, our bodies are more and more reacting to foods and doctors are benefiting from this by our reliance on prescriptions and medication to combat the reaction. It is much easier to take a pill and carry on with life, than to make radical changes in our diets and the way we think. After all we have been brainwashed for years!

I have to believe a simpler solution is to examine your life. Introduce natural foods again. Listen to your body like you would listen to your heart.
